Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

Location: Nairobi

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi, where our representative meets you with a personalised welcome sign after immigration. Get help with your luggage and transfer to your hotel in Nairobi for check-in. Nairobi takes its name from the Maasai phrase 'Enkare Nyrobi', meaning 'cool water', and is the only capital city in the world with a national park inside its limits. Spend the rest of the day at leisure before dinner at the hotel.

Stay: The Concord Hotel & Suites

Day 2: Day 2: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

Location: Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, head south to the vast plains of Amboseli National Park, where elephants roam freely in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. Arrive at the lodge to a warm welcome and enjoy lunch with views across the open plains. Later, set out on an afternoon game drive (depending on arrival time) among Amboseli's famous elephant herds, often seen against the snow-capped summit: a photographer's dream. Return to the lodge as Kilimanjaro glows in the evening light, for dinner and your overnight stay.

Stay: Sentrim Amboseli

Day 3: Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive in Amboseli

Location: Amboseli National Park

Wake to a golden sunrise and the distant trumpeting of elephants, and after breakfast head out for a full day on safari. Explore the park's varied habitats, from swamps and dry lake beds to acacia woodland, in search of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras and a rich variety of birdlife. Climb Observation Hill for a sweeping view of the contrast between Amboseli's lush swamps and its dry plains. Enjoy lunch between game drives, then return in the evening for a slower end to the day, with dinner at the lodge.

Stay: Sentrim Amboseli

Day 4: Day 4: Amboseli – Lake Naivasha

Location: Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, swap the dusty savannah for Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake in the Great Rift Valley, on a scenic drive through valleys and escarpments. Check in, enjoy lunch and relax before a boat ride on the calm waters of the lake, with hippos bobbing nearby and fish eagles and other birds overhead. Continue to Crescent Island for a walking safari among grazing giraffes, zebras and antelopes, with no vehicles and no fences, just nature and quiet. Return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Stay: Naivasha Kongoni Lodge

Day 5: Day 5: Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara

Location: Masai Mara

After breakfast, drive to the world-famous Masai Mara through the Great Rift Valley, with endless landscapes, rolling hills and glimpses of rural life along the way. Check in and enjoy lunch at the lodge before your first afternoon game drive in the Mara. It is an unforgettable introduction: elephants moving in herds, lions resting in the sun and zebras streaming across the horizon. As the sun sinks behind the acacias, return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Stay: Mara Simba Lodge

Day 6: Day 6: Full-Day Game Drive in the Masai Mara

Location: Masai Mara

Spend a full day exploring the vast plains of the Masai Mara, named after the Maasai word for 'spotted', for the trees that dot its landscape. Every hour brings something new: perhaps a cheetah on the hunt, lions and leopards, elephants and buffaloes, or a tower of giraffes grazing among the acacias. For a cultural touch, you can visit a local Maasai village (optional, at an extra cost) to meet the community and learn about their traditions. End the day with clear skies, fresh air and stories over dinner at the lodge.

Stay: Mara Simba Lodge

Day 7: Day 7: Masai Mara – Nairobi – Departure

Enjoy a final breakfast at the lodge before checking out. Drive back to Nairobi and transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for your flight home. Leave Kenya with memories of Amboseli's elephants beneath Kilimanjaro, the hippos and giraffes of Lake Naivasha and the big cats and endless plains of the Masai Mara.
